ALLOY 718 RFQ GUIDE
Alloy 718 fasteners: what to include in a non-standard RFQ.
For drawing-based Alloy 718 / UNS N07718 fasteners, the material specification and acceptance requirements need to be as clear as the part geometry.
DEFINE THE REQUIREMENT
Give the buyer specification together with the drawing.
Alloy 718 is a nickel-based alloy. It is sometimes searched for as “718 stainless steel,” but the correct material designation for the RFQ is Alloy 718 / UNS N07718 and the applicable customer or project specification.
Part geometry
Provide the complete drawing, including overall dimensions, threads, tolerances, head or end configuration and critical inspection points.
Material condition
State the Alloy 718 / UNS N07718 material requirement and any required condition, heat-treatment, mechanical-property or test requirement.
Documentation
List the required certificates, traceability, inspection records, marking and any customer-specific documentation before quotation.
Commercial details
Include quantity, repeat-order expectation, packing needs and requested delivery date so the quotation can be practical.
NON-STANDARD FASTENERS
Material suitability remains an engineering decision.
HOWIN can review a drawing-based fastener requirement identified as Alloy 718 / UNS N07718. Final suitability for the operating environment, load, temperature, condition and applicable project standard must be confirmed by the buyer or project engineer.
A good RFQ separates what is fixed by the drawing from what is controlled by the material and quality specification. This makes it easier to identify any missing information before an order is placed.
ALLOY 718 INQUIRY
Send the drawing and material specification.
We will review the non-standard part requirement before confirming quotation details and lead time.
