RFQ GUIDE
How to specify custom hex head bolts for an RFQ.
A complete drawing-based requirement lets the manufacturing team review a custom hex head bolt quickly and accurately.
START WITH THE DRAWING
Describe the whole bolt, not only the nominal diameter.
Custom-made hex head bolts are produced around the buyer drawing or approved sample. Include every feature that affects manufacture, fit, inspection or documentation.
Head and length
Show head type, across-flats dimension, head height, under-head length, shank configuration and any shoulder or chamfer.
Thread details
State thread standard, nominal diameter, pitch, tolerance or class, threaded length and whether any thread relief is required.
Material requirement
Specify the required alloy or UNS designation together with any project-approved condition, certificate or traceability requirement.
Order quantity
Include the requested quantity, delivery expectation, marking, inspection, protective packing and document requirements.
USEFUL RFQ CHECK
Details that reduce quotation questions.
When a drawing is unavailable, clear photographs and a dimensional schedule can be a starting point. Identify the mating nut or tapped component if thread fit is critical. For a bolted joint used in process equipment, include any project specification that controls material, inspection or marking.
Do not assume a stock bolt standard will cover a custom requirement. The manufacturing review should confirm the complete geometry and acceptance requirements before production.
CUSTOM HEX BOLT RFQ
Send the drawing and project requirement.
HOWIN will review the custom geometry, material, quantity and documentation needs before confirming a quotation.
